At an elevation of 1479 metres, the splendid Nandi hills are located around 60 kilometres away from Bangalore. The mesmerizing views and trekking excursions are the reasons tourists flock in numbers to this place.

The place is said to be named as such due to its resemblance with the Nandi or the sleeping bull. The favorable climate helped it to blossom into a popular summer retreat of British and also the famed Tipu Sultan. The birdwatchers can find comfort with the presence of rare species like; Nilgiri Woodpigeon, Yellow throated Bulbul, Pill millipedes, Shaheen Falcon, Whistling Thrush and others.
